Full-Stack Developer (Remote)
About the role
We are hiring a remote Full-Stack Developer to ship product features end to end, from the database and API to the screen our customers use.

- Build features across the front end, the API, and the database
- Design and change database schemas and write migrations
- Write and maintain REST or GraphQL endpoints
- Write unit and integration tests for new code
- Review pull requests and keep the codebase consistent
What success looks like in the first 90 days
- First feature merged and in production within the first two weeks
- Every new feature ships with tests
- Pull requests small enough to review in one sitting
Tools you will use
- TypeScript or JavaScript
- React or Vue
- Node.js, Python, or PHP
- PostgreSQL or MySQL
- GitHub
What we are looking for
- Three or more years shipping production web applications
- Comfortable on both the front end and the back end

- Writes tests and clear pull request descriptions
- Clear written English for async updates
Schedule
Full-time, 40 hours a week, remote. Working hours overlap with U.S. Eastern Time business hours.
How to apply
Send your resume and a short note on the most relevant work you have done. Tell us which of the tasks above you have done before and the tools you used. Applications without a note will not be reviewed.
More tasks you can add
- Fix bugs reported by customers and the team
- Improve page load times and slow queries
- Keep deployment scripts and environment setup documented
- Break large features into small, shippable pull requests
Interview questions for this role
- Walk me through the last feature you shipped end to end. What did you change in the database?
- How do you decide what belongs in the front end and what belongs in the API?
- A page is slow in production. How do you find out whether it is the query, the API, or the browser?
- How do you handle a database migration on a table that already has live data?
- What do you put in a pull request description so a reviewer in another time zone can approve it?
