Asynchronous communication

Asynchronous communication is any exchange where people do not need to be available at the same moment, such as email, recorded videos, shared documents, and task comments. It lets distributed teams work across schedules without constant meetings. It works best with clear writing, defined response times, and one place for decisions.

What it means in practice

Async does not mean slow. A screen recording that walks through a task, posted in the right project, often beats a meeting: the hire can replay it, and it becomes training material for the next person.

Pair async habits with a short live check-in. Many managers run a 15-minute daily call with their offshore hire and handle everything else in writing.

Our onboarding masterclass covers the routines that make a remote hire productive in the first weeks, and the accountability worksheet helps you track progress.
