EOS rocks for your executive assistant

A rock is a 90-day priority with a finish line, not a job description copied into a new quarter. An executive assistant should own a few rocks they can complete, and they should chase the rocks other people own. Those are different jobs. The hire who does this work with us is full-time, based in the Philippines, and $1,800 a month.

Start in 14 days.

A rock the assistant can own

Give the assistant a rock only when the outcome is visible and does not require a leader's judgment at every step. "The Level 10 pack is out by 3pm the day before, every week this quarter" is a rock. "Be more proactive" is a mood.

Three rocks is plenty. A fourth usually means you handed over the Integrator's list.

  • The scorecard is complete before every Level 10 this quarter, with the missing number named by noon the day before.
  • Every leadership to-do from the meeting has an owner and a date in the tool within one business day.
  • The process folder for the three core processes you named is current, and each one has a last-reviewed date.
  • The Visionary's calendar has one protected block a week for the work only they do, held for the whole quarter.

Rocks the assistant should chase, not own

Revenue, hiring a leader, and a product decision are someone else's rocks. The assistant's job is to ask for the status before the meeting and to write down what the owner said. If the owner misses two weeks, the assistant tells the Integrator. The assistant does not quietly take the rock over.

Write that chase as a to-do or as a line on the scorecard ("to-dos closed on time"), not as a rock titled with another person's goal.

How to check the rock without a second meeting

Once a week, the assistant marks each rock on track or off track and writes one sentence. You read it in five minutes. If it is off track, the sentence says what is blocked and who has to decide. That is the whole review until the quarter ends.

The same sheet is the VA KPI scorecard if you want numbers under the rock: on-time tasks, rework, and how fast they reply. Use the template, then keep only the rows you will actually look at. Most roles are $1,800 a month, can start in 14 days, and include a 1-week trial with replacement or refund.

Frequently asked questions

How many rocks should an executive assistant have?

Two or three that they can finish in the quarter. More than that usually means leadership work landed on the assistant.

What is a bad rock for an assistant?

Anything that needs a leader's judgment on every step, or a goal another person already owns. "Increase sales" is not an assistant rock. "The scorecard is complete before every Level 10" is.

Who marks the rock on track or off track?

The assistant marks it weekly, with one sentence. The person they report to accepts or corrects the mark. The assistant does not grade their own quarter in private.

How much is the person who runs this?

A full-time executive assistant in the Philippines is $1,800 a month. Software developers and AI Implementation Specialists start from $2,500 a month. The first week is a trial: replacement or refund.
