Freelance marketplace

A freelance marketplace is a website where businesses post work and hire independent freelancers, usually per project or per hour, with the platform handling payments and taking a fee. Upwork and Fiverr are well-known examples. You do the screening yourself, and quality and availability vary from one freelancer to the next.

What it means in practice

Marketplaces are good for one-off projects with a clear deliverable: a logo, a landing page, a short video. They are harder to use for ongoing roles, because the best freelancers split their time across clients and you repeat the search when someone moves on.

Job boards such as OnlineJobs.ph sit in between: you hire a person directly for ongoing work, but you still run every step of recruiting and vetting yourself.

Rekruuto does the recruiting for you. We vet candidates, you meet a shortlist, and your full-time hire starts in 14 days with a 1-week trial.
