Global capability center (GCC)

A global capability center (GCC), also called a captive center, is an offshore office a company owns and runs itself to deliver work for the parent business. The company sets up a legal entity, leases space, and hires its own staff abroad. It gives full control but takes significant time, money, and management.

What it means in practice

Large enterprises build GCCs when they need hundreds of people offshore and want them inside their own culture, security, and career paths. The setup includes incorporation, local payroll, benefits, office space, and a local leadership team.

For a small or midsize business, a captive center is rarely worth it for a handful of roles. A placement partner gives you a dedicated full-time professional in the Philippines without an entity, an office, or a local HR team.
